About Swiss Relocation Assessment
Swiss Relocation Assessment is an independent analytical project designed to help individuals better understand the financial trade-offs of living and working in Switzerland.
Relocating within Switzerland, or moving to Switzerland from abroad, involves more than comparing gross salaries. Taxes vary by canton and municipality, housing costs can differ significantly even within the same region, health insurance premiums change by location, and lifestyle assumptions strongly influence monthly expenses. Evaluating all these factors together is often complex and time-consuming.
This project was created to provide a structured and transparent way to compare different Swiss cities, municipalities and cantons based on remaining income after estimated costs and taxes, rather than focusing on individual expense categories in isolation.
What the Project Does
Swiss Relocation Assessment aggregates publicly available data, reference ranges and standardized assumptions to generate comparative estimates based on user inputs such as income level, household situation, housing preferences, selected locations, mobility choices and lifestyle assumptions.
The tool is designed to highlight relative differences and trade-offs between locations, helping users understand how changing where they live may impact their monthly financial balance.
The objective is not to predict exact outcomes, but to support informed decision-making by presenting consistent comparisons across multiple scenarios.
What the Project Does Not Do
Swiss Relocation Assessment does not provide tax, legal, financial or relocation advice.
All results are non-binding estimates and should be considered informational only. Actual outcomes depend on personal circumstances, deductions, insurance models, municipal tax rates, spending habits and regulatory changes.
Users are encouraged to validate results with official sources and, where appropriate, consult qualified professionals before making decisions.
Independence and Data Approach
This project is developed and maintained independently and is not affiliated with Swiss federal authorities, cantonal administrations, insurance providers, employers or real estate platforms.
Underlying estimates are based on publicly accessible information from official Swiss institutions, statistical offices and widely used reference sources. Where simplifications are necessary, they are applied conservatively and documented in the methodology section.
Transparency and Trust
Relocation and cost-of-living decisions can have a significant long-term financial impact. Transparency, clarity and realistic expectations are therefore central principles of this project.
For a detailed explanation of data sources, assumptions and estimation logic, users are encouraged to consult the Methodology & Data Sources section.
